Board of Innovation worked with Walmart to build an AI-supported capability for product innovation. The collaboration expanded into factory-ready technical specifications that could move into production for a pilot in selected stores, according to BOI’s published case.

The work began with Walmart’s existing approach to finding insights and developing products. BOI describes a capability that supports product creation and validation, then carries the output further into the specifications a factory needs.

That connection gives enterprise leaders a useful way to examine where an innovation investment creates value. A concept has to survive the handoff into production before a customer can buy it. Bringing those requirements into the development process changes what a team needs to build and who needs to be involved.

The published case describes selected-store pilots. That scope gives the work a concrete setting in which products can move from development into the retail environment.
