Nichefire has published a customer case describing how an analyst at an unnamed multinational consumer goods company identified two potential innovation territories in roughly two to three hours.

Working on a category he had not previously researched, the analyst used natural-language searches to orient himself before a team discussion. The initial exploration surfaced consumer concerns about taste, artificial ingredients and clean-label expectations as areas worth investigating.

He then used the team’s existing social-listening and review tools to test and expand those signals. The resulting trend assessment supported team materials and gave the innovation group specific directions to explore.

For enterprise insights teams, the case illustrates a role for cultural discovery at the beginning of a research brief. It can help turn a broad question into a smaller set of opportunities for deeper validation, while retaining the team’s existing research tools.
