The National Retail Federation used StoryTap to collect video accounts from small-business owners describing how tariffs affected their operations, according to the platform’s May 2025 case study.
StoryTap says NRF launched custom recording prompts within 24 hours and began reviewing and sharing the resulting videos on its website days later. The campaign gave business owners a way to explain their experiences directly, without a production crew visiting each location.
NRF’s advocacy team described using those accounts to inform policymakers and the media. The application is a repeatable way to gather firsthand evidence as an issue develops.
The case establishes how the stories were collected and used. It does not measure a change in trade policy attributable to the videos.
