Board of Innovation’s ING case describes work on the consortium business models behind VAKT and Komgo, two platforms developed for commodity transactions and trade finance.
The challenge extended beyond the technology. Banks, traders and other participants needed a reason to adopt the same system. BOI worked on models intended to create value across that network and support participation by different organizations.
For leaders building a platform, the case illustrates why the commercial model and the adoption plan need to be designed together. This retrospective covers the historical venture work described by BOI, including launches in 2018; it does not assign a new launch date to either platform.
